Site Owner’s Kit
Rye & Rowan
Prepared by Christopher Chery
What you own, where it lives, and who to call. If you ever hire someone else, give them this page and the copy of your code, and they can pick up where I left off.
What was built
A five-page bakery site with a holiday pre-order form that sends straight to the owner’s inbox.
- Home
- Says what the bakery makes and sends each visitor to the right page.
- Menu
- Breads, pastries and prices, in one place a phone can read.
- Holiday pre-orders
- A page that takes orders for the season and sends each one to your inbox.
- About
- Who bakes, and where.
- Contact
- Your hours, your address and a short contact form.
It works on phones, tablets and computers, and it has page titles and descriptions set for Google.
What you own
Everything is in your name. You can move any of it, at any time, without asking me.
- Domain
- In your Cloudflare account, with auto-renew on and your own card on file.
- About $10 a year for a .com, at cost
- Hosting
- Cloudflare, in the same account. The free plan allows business sites.
- Free
- Code
- A full copy comes with this kit when the final payment is made. Keep it somewhere safe.
- Yours
- Form messages
- Every form on the site sends to your inbox.
- Free
- Words and photos
- Yours. The design, code and content belong to you after the final payment.
- Yours
There are no hosting fees from me. The only bill is the domain, once a year, on your own card.
How it fits together
I work inside your account as an invited member. You can see who has access, and remove anyone, under Manage account › Members.
Your one login
You only need your Cloudflare login to update your card, add or remove people, or move on one day. Tick these off once.
- Save your Cloudflare password in a password manager. I never see it.
- Turn on two-step sign-in, so nobody can get in with just a password.
- Check the card on file, so the domain renews on its own every year.
Getting changes made
Text or email me what you want changed: a new phone number, a new product, a fixed typo. You don’t need to touch the site or learn anything technical.
On a care plan
Your changes are covered, up to the limit of your plan. I reply within 2 business days.
Without one
You get a fixed price before I start, never an hourly bill.
Keeping it running
After launch you can add a care plan at any time, or skip it and pay a fixed price for each change.
$99
a month
- Up to 3 small changes a month, like a new price, hours or photo
- A reply within 2 business days
- Cancel anytime
$199
a month
- Up to 2 hours of changes a month, including new sections or pages
- A reply within 2 business days
- Cancel anytime
Already on a plan? Manage your plan to update your card, see your invoices or cancel. Stripe emails you a sign-in link.
On both plans, if your site is down, message me and I’ll start within 24 hours. I don’t monitor your site, so tell me the moment something looks wrong. Unused time does not roll over.
Quoted separately
- Changes beyond your plan’s limit, redesigns and new features
- Writing new copy, $200 a page
If you ever move on
You don't need my permission and there is no transfer fee.
Remove me under Manage account › Members, then give your next developer this page and the copy of your code. The code is a normal web project that any web developer can work on.
